The President of the United States, Donald Trump, has confirmed that a 15% additional customs duty has been imposed on Turkey. The measure applies to all products coming from Turkey to the U.S., and the decision will take effect within 7 days.
US President Trump has approved a decision that includes additional tariffs on Turkey and many other countries. The published table stated that an additional tariff of 15% would be applied to Turkey. It was noted that the published decree would come into effect 7 days later and would be applied to all products coming from Turkey to the US.
HIGHEST TAX ON SYRIA
The tax rates to be applied to countries in the signed decision ranged from 10% to 41%. Syria was among the countries that would face the highest tax rate. Accordingly, an additional tariff of 10% was imposed on the UK, 39% on Switzerland, 25% on India, 15% on Israel and Japan, 41% on Syria, and 30% on South Africa.
TARIFF RATE ON CANADA INCREASED TO 35%
Meanwhile, Trump also signed a decree that foresees increasing the tariff rate applied to Canada from 25% to 35%. In a statement from the White House, it was reported that the new tariff rate on Canada would come into effect on August 1. The statement noted that Canada had failed to cooperate in stopping the ongoing flow of fentanyl and other illegal drugs and retaliated against the steps taken by the US.
