SEARCH OPERATIONS CANNOT BE CONDUCTED DUE TO LACK OF EQUIPMENT
It was noted that the location of the mine has complicated rescue efforts, requiring state and federal rescue teams to undertake several hours of land travel to reach the site and continue their operations. The search and rescue operations initiated in the mine were suspended later due to a lack of equipment.
Meghalaya Chief Minister Conrad Sangma stated, "The Meghalaya Government has ordered a comprehensive investigation into the incident. Those responsible will be identified and legal actions will be taken against them."
