Following the 6,960 TL fine in the defamation case against Musa Orhan, whom Ezgi Mola accused of sexually assaulting her in the letter of İpek Er, who committed suicide in Batman, she has also been sentenced to a fine of 10,000 TL in the moral compensation case.

Successful actress Ezgi Mola was fined in the 'insult' case against Musa Orhan (26), to whom İpek Er (18), who committed suicide in Batman, wrote in her letter that he sexually assaulted her.

EZGİ MOLA FACES TWO LAWSUITS

İpek Er, who attempted suicide with a gun in Beşiri district and died in the hospital 34 days later on August 18, 2020, wrote in her letter that Sergeant Musa Orhan, who was stationed in Siirt, sexually assaulted her. Orhan was charged with 'aggravated sexual assault' in Siirt 1st Heavy Penal Court and faced a prison sentence of at least 12 years. While the trial of the defendant Orhan was ongoing, there was a backlash on social media. Actress Ezgi Mola also made a post on her social media account on August 20, 2020. Musa Orhan's lawyer, Mehmet Erkan Akkuş, filed a criminal complaint with the Ankara Chief Public Prosecutor's Office regarding Mola's post. Following the investigation, Mola was charged with 'insult' and faced a prison sentence of up to 2 years and 4 months.

TO PAY 10,000 TL IN COMPENSATION

With the decision issued on May 24, 2022, by Ankara 31st Criminal Court of First Instance, Ezgi Mola was fined 6,960 TL in criminal fines, equivalent to 87 days, for committing the crime of 'insult'. Additionally, Musa Orhan's lawyer, Mehmet Erkan Akkuş, filed a lawsuit for moral damages against Mola. The decision was made today in the trial held at Banaz Civil Court of First Instance. Ezgi Mola was ordered to pay 10,000 TL, along with legal interest accrued since August 20, 2020.

Lawyer Mehmet Erkan Akkuş stated, "Insulting and lynching by tweeting is not constitutional freedom of thought, regardless of who it is directed towards. The presumption of innocence and the right to a fair trial are sacred values that we all need and must protect, and cannot be used as a tool for populism. This decision sets a precedent."
