Famous singer Britney Spears was arrested in California on charges of driving under the influence (DUI). The 44-year-old singer was stopped and arrested by the California Highway Patrol around 9:30 PM on Wednesday night. Spears was released shortly after and is set to appear in court on May 4.
In the arrest documents, Spears' occupation is listed as "celebrity," while the vehicle was towed to Roy's Towing parking lot in Thousand Oaks. The singer was released around 6:00 AM.
This is not Spears' first legal issue. In 2007, she faced four charges for allegedly hitting a parked car in Los Angeles and received a jail sentence. However, all charges were dropped after she paid the damages to the vehicle owner, and she was acquitted of the charge of driving without a license.
Following the incident, Spears lost custody of her two sons, whom she shares with ex-husband Kevin Federline. In 2019, the court granted 70% custody to Federline, while Spears was awarded only 30% unsupervised custody rights.
Britney's Instagram account was deactivated before the arrest. Fans began discussing the situation after noticing that her account was closed. Last month, however, Spears shared energetic videos of herself dancing at home, showing off her abs in some of the clips.
Last November, close friends revealed that Spears wanted to live in England due to family and personal issues in Los Angeles. The famous singer has frequently expressed that she feels a lot of pressure in California and desires "a different place to set up a new home."
