Bureau Officer-Sen General President Yusuf Yazgan stated that civil servants are the only employment group in the public sector that does not receive holiday bonuses, calling for holiday bonuses to be given to public employees as well.

Yusuf Yazgan, the General President of Büro Memur-Sen, called on the government to ensure that civil servants receive holiday bonuses just like retirees. Yazgan stated that public employees are the only employment group in the public sector that does not receive bonuses.

Meeting with members of the press at an iftar program, Yazgan highlighted the economic problems faced by civil servants. Reminding that retirees receive bonuses during Ramadan and Eid al-Adha, Yazgan expressed that public employees should also be included in the joy of the holiday.

In Turkey, holiday bonuses are paid to retirees of SSK, Bağ-Kur, and the Pension Fund. This year, it is planned to give a total of 8,000 lira in bonuses to retirees, with 4,000 lira for both Ramadan and Eid al-Adha. The budget allocated for approximately 17 million 700 thousand retirees is reported to be 150 billion lira.

REQUEST FOR HOUSING AND RENT ASSISTANCE

Yazgan also mentioned that public employees, especially those working in large cities, face serious difficulties regarding rent. Noting that it has become harder to find rental housing in tourist areas, Yazgan stated that housing opportunities for public employees should be increased and rent assistance should be provided.

LAST STATUS ON SALARIES

With the adjustments made after the December 2025 inflation data, in January, SSK and Bağ-Kur retirees received a 12.19% increase, while civil servants and civil servant retirees received an 18.60% increase. After this adjustment, the lowest civil servant salary rose to 60,896 TL, and the lowest civil servant pension increased to 27,889 TL. The lowest SSK and Bağ-Kur pension is now 20,000 TL.
