A farmer named Süleyman Kır, who was injured in an attack by a lion that escaped from its cage at an animal park in Antalya, has been discharged from the hospital. Describing the horror he experienced, Kır said, "I had covered myself with a blanket to avoid mosquito bites. When I lifted the blanket, I saw the lion. It jumped on me. We struggled. An incredible event occurred on the night of July 6, Sunday, in the Manavgat district of Antalya. A male lion named "Zeus" escaped from its cage in the animal park located on the D-400 highway in the Ilıca neighborhood. Upon notifying the authorities, search operations were initiated in the area.
LION ATTACKED FARMER
During this time, the lion Zeus attacked a farmer named Süleyman Kır, who was sleeping in a pistachio orchard 800 meters away from the park it escaped from. While the lion was being neutralized, Kır, who was injured in various parts of his body as a result of the attack, was first taken to Manavgat State Hospital and then to Akdeniz University Hospital.

Kır was discharged from the hospital after approximately 5 days of treatment. Recalling the moments he experienced with the lion, Kır said, "This happened to us in the world. I have countless stitch marks on my body. I spent 41 years grazing animals in the Taurus Mountains. I never encountered any wild animal. We encountered a wild animal in the plain of Manavgat. Four years ago, I quit livestock farming and started agriculture, and I had planted peanuts. After watering them, we wanted to lie down and rest a bit. My wife said, 'Süleyman, there is a foreign object next to our feet, take a look at it.' We had a blanket over us to protect against mosquitoes. When I lifted it, I realized it was a lion. It immediately jumped on me," he said.
"IT GRABBED MY THROAT AND I CHOKED IT"
Describing the terrifying moments he experienced, Kır stated: "We fought. It bit my legs. I grabbed it by the hairy part of its neck. In the end, it grabbed my throat, and I choked its throat. Then the lion moved 10 meters away. It was like something out of a horror movie. Later, soldiers arrived. I would never have thought of it in 40 years; the lion didn't leave me time to think. Its teeth were big, it was clawing and biting."
"I FORGIVE THE LION, IT IS NOT ITS FAULT"
After the incident, Kır stated that he forgives the lion, saying, "I forgive the lion. I do not forgive those who have bad intentions. The lion is not at fault," expressing his reaction towards those who were negligent in the incident. Kır also added that he would initiate legal proceedings regarding this matter, emphasizing that those responsible should face consequences.
