In a fire that broke out in a 26-story building in the Çankaya district of Ankara, three people, including a baby, lost their lives. The contractor of the building has been taken into custody as part of the investigation launched regarding the fire.

A fire broke out on the 4th floor of the 26-story Yaşamkent Valero Site located in the Alacaatlı neighborhood of Çankaya, Ankara, last night.
The fire grew rapidly. Upon notification, a large number of fire brigade, police, health, and UMKE teams were dispatched to the area. Citizens trapped in the building were evacuated by the fire brigade teams.
1 BABY AND 3 PEOPLE LOST THEIR LIVES
In the fire, Hüsniye Çelik Şahin (33) and her 3.5-month-old son Aras, along with the site's security officer Muharrem Çetinkaya (63), lost their lives. A total of 39 people, including 7 firefighters, were affected by smoke due to the fire. These individuals were taken to nearby hospitals by ambulances.
CLAIM THAT 'ALARMS DID NOT WORK'
Additionally, a striking claim regarding the fire was made. A resident of the site stated that the alarm system did not work. It was reported that residents of the adjacent block had installed and checked their alarm system a day before, but this procedure had not been carried out in the block where the fire occurred.
CONTRACTOR DETAINED
Furthermore, the Ankara Chief Public Prosecutor's Office has launched an investigation to determine the cause of the fire. As part of the investigation, the contractor of the building was detained in Uşak.
