While the images that emerged regarding Uşak Mayor Özkan Yalım, who was detained as part of a bribery investigation, sparked controversy, journalist Fatih Altaylı commented, "The CHP should expel this guy from the party today, even kick him out. Anyone whose ideology and love for their hometown is less important than what’s in their pants has no place in politics. No one should defend someone who sacrifices their hometown for their libido."
The Mayor of Uşak, Özkan Yalım, was detained along with 11 suspects in an operation conducted in Uşak, Ankara, and Kocaeli as part of an investigation into allegations of bribery from individuals and firms. The footage of Mayor Yalım being taken into custody at a hotel where he was reportedly staying with a 21-year-old female municipal employee in Ankara caused an uproar.
STRIKING WORDS FROM FATİH ALTAYLI
While the repercussions of the incident continue, journalist Fatih Altaylı made a notable statement. Altaylı said, "Is the Mayor's (Özkan Yalım) extramarital affair a crime? Of course, it is not a crime, but it is shameful. Being with a municipal employee is a compounded indecency. 21 years old. Considered a child. Perhaps her parents entrusted her to a public institution with peace of mind. The CHP should expel this guy from the party today, even kick him out. In politics, there is no place for someone whose ideology and love for their hometown are less important than what’s in their pants. No one should defend someone who sacrifices their hometown for their libido."
