On August 14, lawyer Rezan Epözdemir, who was arrested on charges of 'mediating bribery', was released from prison with a judicial control condition of 'prohibition of leaving the country'. Epözdemir, who was met by his family upon his release from prison, stated that he would not make a statement to the press, saying, "Thank you, may God be pleased with you."
Lawyer Rezan Epözdemir, who was given a release decision in the case he was tried for 'mediating bribery' in Istanbul, was released from the Karatepe High Security Penitentiary Institution in Çorlu, Tekirdağ, where he was held in custody.
Epözdemir, who was welcomed by his family at the prison exit, stated that he would not make a statement to the press, saying, "Thank you, may God bless you." He then left the prison by car with his family.
WHAT HAD HAPPENED?
An investigation had been initiated against lawyer Rezan Epözdemir in 2021 regarding allegations that he mediated bribery in the removal of judicial control measures applied in the form of the release and house arrest of two individuals who were held in custody in a case. Epözdemir, who was arrested on August 14, had the investigation completed on October 13, and an indictment was prepared. The indictment requested that Rezan Epözdemir be sentenced to imprisonment ranging from 4 to 12 years for the crime of 'mediating bribery.' The indictment was accepted by the 18th Heavy Criminal Court of Istanbul.
