The Ministry of Trade's Unfair Price Assessment Board imposed a total administrative fine of 42.3 million lira on national chain supermarkets and 60 businesses engaged in wholesale fruit and vegetable trade that were found to have raised prices excessively.
CLOSURE APPLICATION BACK ON THE AGENDA
Following this development, the closure of chain supermarkets for a period of 3 days, previously implemented in the Şahinbey district of Gaziantep, has come back on the agenda.
"WE IMPLEMENTED THE NECESSARY MEASURES WITH DETERMINATION"
Şahinbey Mayor Mehmet Tahmazoğlu stated that inspections are ongoing, saying, "In the inspections we conducted in our district; we applied the necessary measures to chain and local markets that did not comply with the rules, and we implemented all sanctions, including closure, with determination. Our stance on protecting the rights of our citizens is clear," he said.
