As a result of the collapse of a retaining wall of an apartment building in the Gölbaşı district of Ankara, a 4-story building and 4 surrounding apartments were evacuated as a precaution. A four-story building with a retaining wall collapsed in the Gölbaşı district of Ankara, and four surrounding apartment buildings were evacuated as a precaution. The retaining wall of a four-story apartment on 886th Street in Şafak Neighborhood collapsed during the night. Teams from the Provincial Directorate of Environment, Urbanization and Climate Change and officials from the Chamber of Engineers were directed to the scene. The building with the collapsed retaining wall and the four surrounding apartment buildings were evacuated as a precaution during the night.
BUILDING ENTRANCES BLOCKED WITH TAPE
The building entrances were blocked with tape, and police, health, and social service teams were assigned to the area. It was learned that 81 people living in 29 households in these buildings were evacuated, with one family placed in the Care House affiliated with the Metropolitan Municipality in Ulus, while other families went to stay with relatives. Gölbaşı District Governor Erol Rüstemoğlu arrived at the scene during the night to coordinate the efforts. In a statement made by Gölbaşı Municipality regarding the ongoing work in the area, it was stated, "After the collapse of the retaining wall on 886th Street in Şafak Neighborhood, our District Governor Erol Rüstemoğlu, our Mayor Yakup Odabaşı, and officials from the Ministry of Environment, Urbanization and Climate Change, along with our municipal teams, are continuing their inspections on the ground."
