In Erzurum, 80% physically disabled Esin Sarıaslan was attacked by her upstairs neighbors after she complained about their noise. Five men assaulted the disabled woman with kicks and sticks. Sarıaslan described the horror she experienced, saying, "My wheelchair was broken. One of them pulled out a gun and threatened to kill me." The attackers, who were taken into custody, were released after giving their statements.
On the evening of July 14, terrifying moments were experienced in the Yıldızkent neighborhood of the Palandöken district in Erzurum. Esin Sarıaslan (48), who is 80% physically disabled and works at Erzurum City Hospital, was attacked by her upstairs neighbors, whom she had reported to the police the day before for making noise, while she was living in the apartment with her mother.
THEY ASSAULTED THE DISABLED WOMAN, THEY WERE RELEASED
Sarıaslan, who is in a wheelchair, was assaulted by 5 men with kicks and sticks. After the incident, Esin Sarıaslan went to the hospital to obtain a report of the assault and filed a criminal complaint with the prosecutor's office. The suspects, who were taken into custody, were released after their statements.
"I REPORTED TO THE POLICE BECAUSE THEY WERE MAKING NOISE"
Describing the horror she experienced, Esin Sarıaslan said, "Our neighbors, who moved to the upper floor about 3 years ago, are a large family and they were making a lot of noise, especially in the evening hours. My mother was very disturbed by this situation but was too embarrassed to say anything. In the end, I found a solution by reporting it to the police. I called the police on the night of July 13, and the teams came and warned them. The noise stopped that night," she stated.
"THEY ATTACKED ME WITHOUT SAYING ANYTHING"
Stating that she returned home from work the next evening, Sarıaslan expressed that she was sitting in the park across from her house with her mother and brother, drinking tea, and was attacked around 11:00 PM while heading home, saying, "I was about to go home. At that moment, a group of men appeared in front of me, armed with sticks. They attacked me without saying anything. They hit me with kicks and sticks. They injured my brother, who tried to intervene," she said.
"ONE PULLED A GUN AND THREATENED ME WITH DEATH"
Sarıaslan recounted her experience, saying, "The police arrived at that moment, but despite their intervention, the attack continued. My wheelchair was broken. My specially equipped vehicle, worth 100,000 TL, was severely damaged. One of them pulled a gun and threatened me with death. The only reason for all this was that I reported them for making noise," she explained.
"I BECAME AFRAID TO LEAVE THE HOUSE"
After the incident, Sarıaslan stated that she went through difficult days psychologically, saying, "I became afraid to leave the house. The attackers are free. I am a disabled woman. Those who put me in this situation walk around freely," she said.
Sarıaslan indicated that she requested a restraining order against the attackers and protection for herself, asking for the judicial process to be expedited. She also mentioned that she filed an official complaint with the Presidential Communication Center (CİMER) and the governor's office.
