Crystal Palace fans, a team from the English Premier League, carried out a notable protest against their exclusion from the Europa League. The fans left a bag filled with fake money at UEFA's headquarters to protest the injustice.

A protest was held in front of UEFA, the governing body of European football, that shocked the world. Crystal Palace fans staged a striking action to protest UEFA's decision.

THEY BROUGHT A BAG OF FAKE MONEY

The English Premier League team was banned from the Europa League due to multiple club ownership. A fan group called Holmesdale Fanatics reacted to this decision from outside England.

The fans drew attention by leaving a bag filled with fake banknotes at UEFA's headquarters in Nyon, Switzerland. In the accompanying letter, it was emphasized that the decision meant "moral bankruptcy," addressing UEFA President Aleksander Ceferin.

The letter highlighted that Palace was unfairly banned from the Europa League, with a demand to "revoke the decision." The fans explained that they opposed UEFA's "so-called core values" with this symbolic act.

The incident is rooted in John Textor being an investor in both Crystal Palace and French Lyon. According to UEFA rules, the same investor financing two separate clubs means that both teams cannot participate in the same European tournament. While the door to the Europa League closed for Palace, the path led to the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS). The CAS decision is expected to be announced on August 11, 2025.
