A critical agreement has been signed for Eurofighter Typhoon fighter jets. The Ministry of National Defense announced the agreement with the words, "This document formalizes the relationship between the countries and brings us one step closer to a comprehensive agreement on the Typhoon."
Minister of National Defense Yaşar Güler met with UK Defense Minister John Healey to sign a preliminary Memorandum of Understanding regarding Turkey's acceptance as a Eurofighter Typhoon user.

Both ministers committed to deepening this strategic partnership to support the Alliance's collective deterrence.

The two countries continue to make significant progress regarding the export of Eurofighter Typhoons. Turkey's acceptance as a Typhoon user will further strengthen the long-standing bonds of friendship that have developed among NATO's key allies for decades and will be an important step towards enhancing Turkey's advanced combat air capabilities. This development marks the beginning of a new era in the Turkey-UK partnership, aimed at strengthening capability cooperation and supporting the defense industries of both countries through mutual procurement of world-class equipment.

GERMAN PRESS REPORTED: REQUEST FOR 40 FIGHTER AIRCRAFT
Meanwhile, the German press reported today that the German federal government has also given the green light for the delivery of Eurofighter Typhoon fighter jets to Turkey. According to the news, the Federal Security Council positively responded to the request from Ankara for 40 Eurofighter fighter jets.
According to the British press, the exact number and specifications of the jets have not yet been definitively determined. It is stated that if Turkey orders all 40 jets, the order value could reach approximately 4.75 billion euros.
