New regulations are being implemented to provide additional resources for defense industry investments. This regulation, aimed at increasing the revenues of the Defense Industry Fund, introduces new taxes on a variety of products, from motorcycles to drones, watches, and many others. The draft of the regulation, which includes the transfer of resources to defense, has been submitted to the Parliament. ATTENTION MOTORCYCLE USERSIn Article 3 of the bill, the scope of the Motor Vehicle Tax (MTV) for motorcycles is being expanded. Accordingly, motorcycles with an engine displacement of less than 100 cm³ and small motorcycles with a power output of less than 6 kW will now also be subject to MTV. This regulation particularly targets small-displacement motorcycles used in urban transportation and will affect the owners of vehicles in this segment. DRONE USAGE NOW SUBJECT TO TAXThe regulation is not limited to motorcycles. Unmanned aerial vehicles (drones) will also now fall under the scope of the Special Consumption Tax (ÖTV). However, drones used for military purposes are excluded from this regulation. This means that additional tax obligations are being imposed on drones used for hobby or commercial purposes. TAX WILL ALSO BE COLLECTED FOR WATCHESIn addition, wristwatches with a tax base of 5,000 lira and above are also included in the new tax scope. The new regulations on these products, which are considered luxury consumption, will bring additional costs to consumers purchasing high-end watch brands.
