According to the bill titled "Law on Youth and Sports Services and Amendments to Some Laws and Decrees with the Force of Law," which is planned to be discussed tomorrow in the TBMM Planning and Budget Commission, foreign-registered vehicles will not be allowed to leave Turkey without paying the fees and fines incurred after passing through toll roads operated by private companies.
THEY WILL NOT BE ABLE TO EXIT WITHOUT PAYING TOLL FEES
According to information compiled from the bill signed by AK Party deputies, regulations are being made to prevent foreign-registered vehicles from crossing the border without paying toll fees on toll roads operated by private companies. It has been determined that foreign-registered vehicles, due to the lack of legal regulation, have been leaving Turkey without paying toll fees after using toll roads operated by private companies. It has been identified that the collection of unpaid toll fees and fines for these vehicles, which do not have a fixed address in Turkey, is being abused by allowing them to leave the country without paying the fees.
THE NUMBER OF VEHICLES PASSING WITHOUT PAYMENT HAS INCREASED SIGNIFICANTLY
Following an increase in the number of foreign-registered vehicles passing through toll roads operated by private companies without payment, a proposal has been submitted to the TBMM Presidency to amend Article 30 of the Highway Transport Law. Thus, a similar practice will be implemented for foreign-registered vehicles that are not allowed to leave the country without paying fees after passing through toll roads operated by the General Directorate of Highways.
Foreign-registered vehicles will not be allowed to leave the country without paying the fines and toll fees imposed on them. These receivables can also be collected at customs gates by authorized units by informing the driver without the requirement of notification. 60% of the collected amounts will be recorded as revenue in the general budget as a service fee, and 40% will be transferred to the relevant operator by the end of the month following the collection.
