A forest fire broke out in an area near the ancient city of Assos in the Ayvacık district of Çanakkale. The flames reached the entrance of the Assos Ancient City during the fire. After the intervention of the teams, the fire was brought under control and the Ministry of Culture and Tourism also made a statement. The statement from the ministry stated that cultural assets were not damaged and said, "Assos Archaeological Site will be closed for visitation on June 27, 28, and 29 for cooling and necessary assessment works to be carried out."

A fire broke out in the shrubbery area in Behram village, which is located in the Ayvacık district of Çanakkale. The fire, whose cause is unknown yet, spread towards the coastal area due to the effect of the wind.
RACE AGAINST TIME BEGINS
Upon notification, Ayvacık Forestry Management teams and Ayvacık Municipality firefighters were dispatched to the region. Work has started to extinguish the fire with the support of the villagers.

The shrub fire spread to the entrance of the Assos Ancient City. Teams intervened from the air and land to prevent damage to the ancient city.

The fire has been brought under control. In a statement from the Ministry of Culture and Tourism, it was stated that "The fire near the Assos Archaeological Site in Çanakkale has been brought under control, and cultural assets have not been damaged.
