THE FOREST FIRE IN SAKARYA SPREAD TO BILECIK
The fire broke out yesterday around 17:15 in the forested area between the Geyve and Pamukova districts of Sakarya. The flames quickly spread, affecting many villages due to the wind. As the flames advanced towards the villages of Büyükyenice, Kazancı, and Borcak in the Osmaneli district of Bilecik, the local people mobilized.
4 VILLAGES EVACUATED
Last night, the village of Kızılöz was evacuated as a precaution, and today the villages of Büyükyenice, Kazancı, and Borcak were also evacuated. While villagers and their animals were taken to safe areas, all teams were mobilized to prevent the flames from reaching the villages of Kazancı and Borcak. All tractor owners in the Osmaneli district and surrounding villages moved to the area with water tanks, and announcements were made from the village mosques to ensure no one remained in the village.
MINISTER KURUM: 12 INDEPENDENT UNITS HEAVILY DAMAGED
Minister of Environment, Urbanization and Climate Change Murat Kurum expressed his condolences to all citizens affected by the forest fire in Geyve, Sakarya, in a post on his social media account.
Kurum stated: "Our teams from the General Directorate of Construction Affairs have started damage assessment work in the areas where the fire has been brought under control. So far, we have determined that 12 independent units, including 7 residences, are collapsed and heavily damaged. We will take the necessary steps as soon as the work is completed."
