A forest fire that broke out yesterday between the Geyve and Pamukova districts of Sakarya quickly spread to the Osmaneli district of Bilecik due to the wind. EVACUATIONS CONTINUE
Dense smoke has affected many settlements in the area. It has been reported that the flames are advancing towards the villages of Büyükyenice, Kazancı, and Borcak in Osmaneli. Meanwhile, some citizens from the evacuated village are loading their belongings onto tractors to transport them to a safe area.
Bilecik Governor Faik Oktay Sözer conducted on-site inspections regarding the ongoing fire in Büyükyenice Village and received information from the teams. Governor Sözer monitored the intervention efforts in the region on-site.
MINISTER KURUM: 12 INDEPENDENT UNITS HEAVILY DAMAGED
Minister of Environment, Urbanization and Climate Change Murat Kurum expressed his best wishes to all citizens affected by the forest fire in Geyve district of Sakarya in a post on his social media account.
Kurum stated: "Our teams from the General Directorate of Construction Affairs have started damage assessment work in the areas where the fire has been brought under control. So far, we have determined that 12 independent units, including 7 residences, are collapsed and heavily damaged. We will take the necessary steps as soon as the work is completed."
