President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan stated regarding the accelerated "Terror-Free Turkey" process following the PKK's beginning to lay down arms, "Imralı has provided and is providing all kinds of support on this matter. This aspect of the issue is very, very important."
Due to the 51st anniversary of the Cyprus Peace Operation, President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, who returned from the TRNC, spoke about the "Terror-Free Turkey" process.
Stating that "The events happening in our region once again demonstrate the correctness of this step we have taken," Erdoğan pointed to terrorist organization leader Abdullah Öcalan without naming him, saying, "Right now, Imralı is providing all kinds of support regarding this issue. This aspect of the matter is very, very important. The stance of the YPG can change at any moment. It is also important how this approach will reflect on the SDG, which is an extension of these groups," he said.
"WE ARE DETERMINED TO BUILD A TERROR-FREE FUTURE"
Erdoğan continued his remarks: "We continue to take steps to achieve our goal of a 'Terror-Free Turkey.' Progress continues in line with this ultimate goal. We are also extremely careful to ensure that the process is not affected by provocations. We are on alert against all sabotage and structures that could disrupt our goal of a 'Terror-Free Turkey.' As you know, the disarmament has begun. Our relevant colleagues are making the necessary follow-ups and establishing contacts. As far as I know, discussions regarding the commission have reached the final stage. Soon, you will witness progress on the floor of the Parliament.
We are determined to build a future without terrorism. We know very clearly what we need to do, how we will do it, and ultimately where we will end up to achieve our goal. "WE WILL NOT LEAVE SHARA ALONE IN SYRIA"
The stance of the YPG can change at any moment. It is also important how this approach will reflect on the SDG, which is an extension of these groups. In recent developments, the stance of Syrian President Shara has, in my opinion, eliminated the negative convergence of these groups. We are determined; we will not leave Ahmed Shara alone in Syria. We do not want the fragmentation of Syria; we see the reconstruction of Syria as positive for our country as well. Because the reconstruction of Syria will positively affect its relations with us. We see that the voluntary return of Syrians in our country to their homeland has begun. Previously, there was a hopelessness that "they would not return." Now they have started to return voluntarily. We will provide all kinds of support to accelerate the voluntary returns. With the acceleration of these returns, we want Syria to normalize quickly, and we want to secure our South."
