In Kayseri, the statement of Yasin Ş., who stabbed and killed his neighbor Şevki Tanrıkulu while he was praying in the mosque after a previous argument, has been obtained. In his statement, Yasin Ş. said, "We ran into each other in front of the door while going to prayer. I took the knife from the garden in front of the house and followed him. During the obligatory prayer, I said, 'Now go ahead and insult me,' and I stabbed him in the throat. When he fell to the ground, I stabbed him in the heart 3-4 times."
Yasin Ş., who had a dispute with his neighbor Şevki Tanrıkulu over parking, came to the mosque where Tanrıkulu went for the afternoon prayer at the Sami Ramazanoğlu Mosque located on Metin Yüksel Street in the Selçuklu neighborhood of Melikgazi district in Kayseri. Yasin Ş. attacked Şevki Tanrıkulu, who was praying, with a knife he brought with him, injuring him in various parts of his body. Many police and medical teams were dispatched to the scene upon the notification of those nearby.
DIED IN THE MOSQUE It was determined during the examination that Şevki Tanrıkulu had lost his life. While police teams took extensive security measures on the street and in the area where the mosque is located, Tanrıkulu's lifeless body was taken to the Kayseri State Hospital morgue. Tanrıkulu's funeral was received by his relatives and was buried after the prayer held at Hulusi Akar Mosque yesterday at noon. It was learned that Tanrıkulu lost his only child, Mehmet, 30 years ago when he was 12 years old due to a fall from the garden wall.

Yasin Ş.'s statement has emerged. In the statement, Yasin Ş. said that they moved to the place where Tanrıkulu lived in 2018, and added, "Since 2018, the victim has constantly insulted and threatened me and my family. He was causing problems over cigarette butts and trash. When our guest parked the car in front of the victim's house, he would shout and curse. He also assaulted my mother and brother a few times. He continued with the same incidents. We encountered each other in front of the door while going to prayer. He said with his back turned, 'We need to kill them.' I took the knife from the garden in front of the house and followed him. During the obligatory prayer, I said, 'Come on, insult me now, belittle us,' and stabbed him in the throat with the knife. When he fell to the ground, I stabbed him in the heart 3-4 times. My intention was to kill. Then I went home. While on the way, I called the police and said, 'Let me see my children one last time. You can take me from home.' Later, I regretted the incident," he said.
