Hüseyin Kocabıyık, who served as a member of parliament for two terms from the AK Party, announced on his social media account that he has been detained. Kocabıyık was taken into custody on charges of "insulting the president," and a search was also conducted at his home.

WHO IS HÜSEYİN KOCABIYIK?

Hüseyin Kocabıyık was born in 1963 in Konya. He completed his primary, secondary, and high school education in Konya and his higher education at Ankara University, Faculty of Language, History, and Geography.

He received a master's degree from the Department of International Relations at Ankara University. He worked as a professional manager between 1993-1994. He worked with the 53rd, 54th, and 55th Governments as a chief advisor to the Prime Minister between 1995-1999.

He served as the general coordinator of a think tank called the High Politics Center from 2004 to 2006.

He was a board member of the Turkish Democracy Foundation. He served as the president of the Analytical Research Center.

He managed and worked as an analyst on research related to social, political, economic, and international relations.

In 2013, he served as the Secretary General of the Turkish World Culture Capital Agency.

He worked as a writer for the Sabah and Yeni Asır newspapers.

From 2014 to 2015, he served as the Ege Representative of Turkuvaz Media.

He is a member of the Turkish Grand National Assembly for the 25th and 26th terms from İzmir.

He is married and has one son.
