Former Deputy Prime Minister Akdoğan: When I heard Bahçeli's call, I dropped the fork in my hand.

Former Deputy Prime Minister Akdoğan: When I heard Bahçeli's call, I dropped the fork in my hand.

Yalçın Akdoğan, the Deputy Prime Minister, commented on the call made by MHP Chairman Devlet Bahçeli for the terrorist leader Abdullah Öcalan regarding the "Resolution Process" that was initiated in 2013. Akdoğan stated that he dropped his fork when he heard Bahçeli's words and said, "I interpreted it this way: either a very big wave is coming, or a new equation is being established in Syria."

In an interview with Habertürk TV's General Editor Mehmet Akif Ersoy, former Deputy Prime Minister Yalçın Akdoğan, who held discussions with the HDP delegation during the "solution process" that started in 2013 and ended in 2015, answered questions.

Akdoğan, who made striking statements regarding MHP Chairman Devlet Bahçeli's remarks about terrorist leader Abdullah Öcalan, 'trustees', and the İmralı process, used notable expressions.

"I WAS SHOCKED WHEN I HEARD THIS FROM DEVLET BEY"

Stating that he had not been following political developments for a long time, Akdoğan described the moment he first heard Bahçeli's remarks during the group meeting where he made the 'Öcalan' statement; "We were having breakfast, and for a moment, my fork fell from my hand. Devlet Bey was speaking, and what he said was very advanced. I was shocked when I heard this from Devlet Bey, my mind started working 20 times faster."

"A NEW BALANCE IS BEING ESTABLISHED IN SYRIA"

I was trying to understand the sentences; he talked about the 'right to hope'. This was something that had been worked on, it was a very important move. First, I looked at my colleagues, I looked at the comments. Everyone was in shock. They were stammering, not knowing how to position themselves. Everyone made speeches that were evasive. Akdoğan, who also stated that he did not know what was being done behind the scenes of the speech, said, "In those days, I commented like this; either a very big wave is coming; there is a risk, a danger. Therefore, we need to maintain unity inside. Or a new balance is being established in Syria. Such a thing could be done as a preliminary preparation. Or I think that Öcalan was thought to serve the state because he has aged," he said.

"THIS MEANS TO DO HIGH POLITICS BEYOND DAILY POLITICS"

The former minister continued his words as follows; "Then there was a continuation of this. This is an important initiative. As someone who is interested in these issues, I was very pleased with this. It is important for Turkey to reach this point. What Devlet Bey is doing here is high politics. It is at a high level in terms of paradigm. This means to do high politics beyond daily politics. Some people decide the cards again, some people shuffle the cards. If you do daily politics, you shuffle the cards. If you do high politics, you decide the cards."

"LET'S LOOK AT THE TRUSTEE ISSUE THEORETICALLY"

Akdoğan, who also evaluated the appointments of trustees to municipalities, said the following; "The state is such a large mechanism. It cannot change direction suddenly. There is a separation of powers. There is something called the spirit of the time. Let's look at the trustee issue theoretically. We are not talking about appointing a trustee to a municipality in Switzerland. We are talking about the drop of water formed over the problems that have a history."

"YOU ARE A GENERAL, OUTSIDE YOU HAVE BECOME AN IMAM..."

There is democratic politics and there is terrorism. There is a party and there is an organization. If one exists, the other should not. There have been gray areas, they have intertwined. This is an anomaly. The trustee issue is also a part of this anomaly. Let's look at it from the perspective of national will and democracy. The nation has elected you. You have been elected as the mayor of Hakkari. Tomorrow morning, someone comes and says, 'I am the organization commissioner here, what I say will happen. Resources will be transferred here. You will provide this support to this family.' The same thing was also present in FETÖ. You are a general, outside you have become an imam, he is managing that. Another will has created a guardianship over the mayor elected by the people. He is trying to manage it, producing a lot of unlawfulness. Will the state not intervene in this?

The DEM Party has again entered into complex relationships based on habit. Will there be no trustees appointed? Will they be exempt from the law? Let's say the process is over, the weapons are buried. Will these be exempt from the law? The state does it today and will do it then. I see myself as a democratic person. No one should establish guardianship over the will elected by the people. The organization commissioner, the secret imam should not intervene, brother. The law is above the national will, it is binding. We have a gangrenous problem that we are experiencing.
