The former and current members of the DEM Party delegation, invited from Diyarbakır for the weapons surrender ceremony to be held tomorrow by the terrorist organization PKK, departed for the city of Sulaymaniyah in the Iraqi Kurdistan Regional Government with a group of journalists on 4 buses.

The first disarmament ceremony of the terrorist organization PKK was planned to be broadcast live on television, but later, in a statement made by the Union of Kurdish Communities (KCK) on July 7, it was announced that journalists would not be allowed into the ceremony area for "security" reasons, and the ceremony would not be broadcast live.

DECISION TO CANCEL LIVE BROADCAST DUE TO SECURITY REASONS

For this reason, the DEM Party invited some writers and journalists to the ceremony, but announced that the decision to broadcast live was canceled for "security" reasons. For the disarmament ceremony of the terrorist organization PKK, which will be held tomorrow, former and current members of parliament from the invited DEM Party delegation left Diyarbakır with a group of journalists in four buses heading to the city of Sulaymaniyah in the Iraqi Kurdistan Regional Government.

NO ENTRY TO THE AREA WITH PHONES

The ceremony can be observed from two separate areas. A limited number of observers will be allowed into the first area where the organization members will disarm. The phones and other technical equipment of these invitees will not be allowed into the area for security reasons. The majority of participants will be able to watch the ceremony in a second area where large screens are set up. Only employees of two media organizations accepted by the parties will be allowed into the first area where the disarmament will take place. The footage of the ceremony can be distributed to the world by these two organizations after the ceremony is over.

A VIDEO MESSAGE FROM ÖCALAN

Before the disarmament ceremony, PKK leader Abdullah Öcalan sent a video message to the PKK and the public. This video message, which is Öcalan's first video footage in 26 years, was published by the pro-organization Firat News Agency. In the video, he stated, "I continue to defend the Call for Peace and Democratic Society dated February 27, 2025. Details regarding disarmament will be determined and implemented quickly. I believe in the power of politics and social peace, not weapons, and I call on you to realize this principle."
