NUCLEAR MISSILES TO BE DEPLOYED AT THE GERMAN BORDER
French President Emmanuel Macron announced that supersonic missiles carrying nuclear warheads will be deployed at an airbase near the German border by 2035.
Macron, who announced that 1.5 billion Euros will be invested in Luxeuil-Saint Sauveur airbase, stated, "By 2035, the size of the base will double with approximately 2,000 military and civilian personnel."
"WE MUST BE PREPARED IF WE WANT TO AVOID WAR"
Macron said, "Significant investments are planned to accommodate two Rafale squadrons. If we want to avoid war, the country and the continent must continue to defend, equip, and prepare themselves."
Stating that "this is a fundamental change in the operations of the base, a major modernization project to adapt operational and living infrastructure," Macron added, "Luxeuil's historical nuclear mission will continue. The base will be the first to be equipped with the next version of Rafale and supersonic nuclear missiles by 2035."
"WE WILL INCREASE AIRCRAFT ORDERS"
On the other hand, Macron announced that as part of the new defense investments decided in the face of the geopolitical "turning point," the French government will "increase and accelerate Rafale orders for the air force."
