Funeral prayer in absentia for Hamas leader Ismail Haniyeh is being held across Turkey.

Funeral prayers were held in many cities in Turkey for Hamas Political Bureau Chairman Ismail Haniyeh, who was assassinated in the Iranian capital Tehran.

Hamas Political Bureau Chairman Ismail Haniyeh was assassinated in Tehran, the capital of Iran, where he was present to attend the inauguration ceremony of Mesud Pezeşkiyan, who won the presidential election in Iran. Hamas confirmed Haniyeh's death, stating, "Haniyeh was killed in Tehran as a result of a Zionist attack." Hamas and the Iranian Revolutionary Guards stated that Israel was behind the attack.

ŞANLIURFA

After Haniyeh's death, funeral prayers were held in many cities in Turkey. The funeral prayer for Haniyeh was performed at Dergah Mosque in Balıklıgöl Campus in Şanlıurfa by Şanlıurfa Civil Society Organizations Platform. After the prayer, the citizens chanted slogans against Israel. Ramazan Güner, who read the press statement on behalf of the platform, expressed their belief that Ismail Haniyeh had reached the rank of martyrdom.

"HANIYEH'S MARTYRDOM IS NOT AN END, IT IS A GREAT BEGINNING"

Güner, who reminded that Haniyeh had previously lost his 3 children and 3 grandchildren in attacks, continued as follows: "We are now in a place where words are no longer enough. Ismail Haniyeh, the great commander and noble leader whom we refer to as the 'father of martyrs' because he sacrificed his family and loved ones to his Lord, has reached the rank of martyrdom, which is a great turning point. The Israeli regime has achieved nothing by martyring Ismail Haniyeh, but the esteemed commander Haniyeh has achieved the martyrdom position that he has longed for and awaited. A movement whose leaders are martyred is never defeated."

ELAZIĞ

A funeral prayer was held for Haniyeh in Solhan district of Bingöl, and a call to prayer was made in Keban district of Elazığ. Funeral prayer was performed at Ulu Mosque in Solhan after the noon prayer for Haniyeh, who was assassinated in Tehran, the capital of Iran. In Keban district of Elazığ, a call to prayer was made in all mosques for Haniyeh.

YOZGAT

A funeral prayer was held for Haniyeh by Yozgat Provincial Mufti Ali Gülten at Çapanoğlu Büyük Mosque after the noon prayer, and prayers were made after the prayer. The crowd chanted "Down with Israel" and "Allahu Akbar" slogans.

TOKAT

A funeral prayer was held for Haniyeh, the Political Bureau Chairman of Hamas, who was assassinated in Israel, in Tokat. The funeral prayer was performed by Deputy Mufti of the province, Dr. Fazıl Saraç, at Çapanoğlu Büyük Mosque at noon, and prayers were made for all martyrs and Palestine.

KAYSERİ

In Kayseri, the call to prayer was made from the mosques for Haniyeh. Funeral prayer was performed at Hunat Mosque after the noon prayer. The citizens inside and outside the mosque chanted slogans against Israel.

ÇORUM

A funeral prayer was held for Hamas Leader Ismail Haniyeh in Çorum. The funeral prayer, organized by the Palestine Platform, was performed at Akşemseddin Mosque after the noon prayer, and Mayor Dr. Halil İbrahim Aşgın, AK Party Provincial Chairman Murat Günay, MHP Provincial Chairman Mehmet İhsan Çıplak, representatives of civil society organizations, and citizens attended.

Deputy Mufti Dr. Fazıl Saraç, who performed the funeral prayer, stated that the Palestinian cause is not just a land issue and said, "Palestine is a land that houses the pupil of this ummah, the Al-Aqsa Mosque, and Hz. Omar. May Allah have mercy on all the martyrs who sacrificed their lives for it. May the Almighty Allah grant this ummah the power, strength, and will to protect the entrusted ones." After the funeral prayer, prayers were made for all martyrs.

MERSİN

A funeral prayer was held for Ismail Haniyeh in Mersin. The funeral prayer, organized by the Anatolian Youth Association, was held at Ulu Mosque, and many citizens attended. Prayers were made for Haniyeh during the prayer. After the prayer, the crowd gathered in the courtyard of the mosque and protested by chanting slogans such as "Down with Israel" and "Allahu Akbar."

KIRKLARELİ

A funeral prayer was held for Hamas Leader Ismail Haniyeh in Kırklareli at Hızırbey Mosque after the noon prayer.After the funeral prayer, which took place after the noon prayer, prayers were made. The Deputy Governor, Yusuf Güler, Deputy Mayors, officials from institutions and organizations, and citizens attended the prayer.

HANIYEH ASSASSINATION

Hamas leader Ismail Haniyeh was in Tehran to attend the inauguration ceremony of Iranian President Mahmoud Pezeshkian. The Iranian Revolutionary Guards announced in a statement on July 31 that an attack had been carried out on Haniyeh's residence in Tehran. Iran and the Hamas Movement held Israel responsible for the cowardly assassination.

Ismail Haniyeh, born in a refugee camp in Gaza in 1962, was an important figure since the establishment of Hamas. Haniyeh, who has been imprisoned by Israel many times, survived an assassination attempt by Israel in 2003. After Hamas won the elections three years later, Haniyeh briefly served as the Prime Minister of Palestine. In 2017, he was elected as the head of Hamas' political bureau. Haniyeh led the Hamas delegation in negotiations mediated by Qatar, the US, and Egypt.
