The special jersey featuring 5 stars symbolizing Galatasaray's 25th championship adorned the city's 406-year-old iconic symbol, the Manneken Pis statue, in Brussels, the capital of Belgium.
The capital of Belgium, Brussels, hosted events for Galatasaray's 25th championship. The first stop of the events organized by the Belgium Galatasaray Fans Association was the Town Hall.
'TODAY WE ARE ALL CIMBOM FANS' Brussels Mayor Philippe Close addressed the participants in Turkish during his opening speech. Close said, "Manneken Pis, in the heart of Brussels, represents the Galatasaray team today. I have colleagues who are Galatasaray fans. I am an Anderlecht fan, but today we are all Cimbom fans. With 5 stars, proudly, come on lions, the greatest Cimbombom. Today is Galatasaray's day. Not Fenerbahçe, nor any other team. It is only Galatasaray's day. I sincerely congratulate Galatasaray on its 5th star. Why is Galatasaray so important? We have a legend, Ciro Mertens. He makes us very happy. Because football is something that brings everyone together. We know that Galatasaray fans in Turkey are very different. There are many Belgian players who have played in Turkey since Jean-Marie Pfaff. There are many Turkish citizens in Belgium and Brussels. Today, we are proud to attach Galatasaray's 5th star to Manneken Pis," he said.
After the speech of Brussels Mayor Philippe Close, he was presented with a 5-star jersey. Following the speeches of Brussels Parliament Member Şevket Temiz and Brussels Consul General Onur Sevim, Galatasaray Secretary General Eray Yazgan presented a plaque featuring the gate of Galatasaray High School to Brussels Mayor Philippe Close and also gifted a plaque to Brussels Consul General Onur Sevim. Brussels Mayor Philippe Close and Eray Yazgan signed the memorial book in commemoration of the day.
THE 1177TH COSTUME OF THE MANNEKEN PIS STATUE IS THE GALATASARAY JERSEY After the ceremony, Galatasaray's 5-star jersey was dressed on the 406-year-old symbol of Brussels, Manneken Pis, with the intense participation of fans, accompanied by chants and cheers. The statue located in the central Grand Place Square of Brussels had previously only worn the jersey of Brussels' local football team, Anderlecht. For the first time in the history of Manneken Pis, a Turkish team's jersey has been featured. The 1177th costume of the Manneken Pis statue, which is one of the cultural heritages of the city, became Galatasaray's 5-star jersey.
