The Gendarmerie General Command captured 78 suspects in a cyber fraud operation conducted in 8 provinces, with 54 of them being arrested. The operations prevented citizens from suffering financial and moral harm.
Operations targeting 'Cyber Fraud' crimes were carried out in 8 provinces by the General Command of Gendarmerie. While 78 suspects were apprehended during the operations, 54 of them were arrested. In the operations organized by the General Command of Gendarmerie, centered in 8 provinces, 78 suspects were caught, who had a transaction volume of 689 million lira in their accounts over the last 3 years. Of the apprehended suspects, 54 were arrested, and judicial control measures were applied to 20.
ILLEGAL PROFITS WERE DETECTED
Through these individuals, the material and moral damage to citizens caused by 'Cyber Fraud' crimes was prevented. In coordination with the Chief Public Prosecutor's Offices and the Cyber Crime Department of the General Command of Gendarmerie, operations carried out by Provincial Gendarmerie Commands in Ankara, Şanlıurfa, Aydın, Yalova, Konya, Elazığ, Ordu, and Van revealed that the apprehended suspects committed fraud through fake advertisements such as 'investment consultancy, white goods, motor vehicles, decoration, and women's care products' via their social media accounts, deceived our citizens by establishing fake e-commerce sites through internet websites, obtained personal information belonging to citizens, and generated illegal profits under the guise of 'promises of high income' on social media platforms.
