Georgia Closes Airspace To Boeing 737 Max Aircraft

16.03.2019 03:05

Airspace closed until official cause in Ethiopia crash revealed, says Georgia’s aviation authority.

Georgia on Saturday joined a growing list of countries that shut down its airspace to all Boeing 737 MAX following a fatal crash of an Ethiopian Airlines plane.

Georgia's General Civil Aviation Authority (GCAA) said flights of all Boeing 737-8 Max and 737-9 Max aircraft are grounded.

It is reported that the decision will be implemented until the official causes of the plane crash in Ethiopia is revealed.

Last Sunday, a Kenya-bound Boeing 737 MAX 8 crashed just six minutes after take-off from an airport in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia.

All 157 people on board -- 149 passengers and eight crew members -- were killed in the crash.

The plane model was also involved in an October crash outside of Jakarta, Indonesia. All 189 people on board Lion Air flight JT610 were killed. That crash also took place shortly after take-off.
