As the price of gold skyrocketed, citizens turned their attention to silver. Silver merchants stated that the era of silver bracelets has begun for engagements and weddings.
Compared to last year, the price of gold has increased by about 2 times and silver by 4 times, which has started to change citizens' investment and jewelry preferences. Especially 9.25 karat silver bracelets have become the new favorite of consumers with their elegant designs. Silver bracelets, preferred for both investment and usage purposes, are offered for sale with a wide range of products.
SILVER BRACELETS GO UP TO 10 THOUSAND LIRA
The prices of silver bracelets vary according to weight, design, and craftsmanship quality. In the silver shops in Elazığ, the prices of silver bracelets start from 1,750 TL and can go up to 10 thousand TL. Cemal Şahin, a silver merchant, stated that interest in silver has increased during engagements and weddings in the summer months, expressing that citizens prefer silver over white gold.
INTEREST IN SILVER HAS INCREASED
Şahin noted that the recent price increases have changed consumer behavior, stating, "Due to the recent increases, citizens are asking more about investment products rather than jewelry. A situation similar to a black market has emerged. Especially products of 1000 karat and above are being considered more. Citizens think it is more logical to carry it in the form of bracelets rather than storing it as ingots. The craftsmanship is almost the same as gold. However, the purity rate in silver is a bit lower, and craftsmanship can be high, which increases the cost. When it is 1000 karat silver, it can be easily carried as a bracelet. Our silver sets start from 4 thousand lira and can go up to 10 thousand lira. Weight and craftsmanship prices determine the cost. Interest in silver has increased during engagements and weddings in the summer months. Our citizens prefer silver over white gold," he said.
