The easing of oil prices and the decline in refinery margins have started to signal a reduction in gasoline and diesel prices. Although it is not yet clear how much the discount will be, discounted fuel sales are expected to take effect starting from Friday.
Fluctuations in Brent oil and exchange rates, along with tax increases, continue to reflect as discounts and price hikes in fuel prices.
DOUBLE DISCOUNT IS COMING
With the downward trend in oil prices and the expectation of its continuation, a decrease in refinery margins is expected to reflect as a discount in gasoline and diesel prices.
VALID FROM FRIDAY
Although it is not yet clear how much the discount will be, expectations are prevailing in the market that discounted fuel sales will be valid from Friday.
CURRENT FUEL PRICES
In Istanbul, gasoline is sold for 55 lira, in Ankara for 55.87 lira, and in Izmir for 56.20 lira. Diesel is sold for 57.07 lira in Istanbul, 58.10 lira in Ankara, and 58.43 lira in Izmir.
HOW ARE FUEL PRICES CALCULATED?
Fuel prices are calculated by refineries based on the average prices of refined products in the Mediterranean market, which includes Turkey, and changes in the dollar exchange rate. As a result of this calculation, the prices applied by distribution companies may show slight variations due to competition and freedom among companies and cities.
EPGIS HAD DECIDED NOT TO ANNOUNCE PRICE CHANGES
After the Energy Market Regulatory Authority (EPDK) filed a complaint against EPGIS, the only union that explains price changes, the union announced that it would not share fuel price changes with the public until the legal process is concluded.
