During Kaan Tangöze's concert at the Yunus Emre Congress Center of Kahramanmaraş Sütçü İmam University, the alteration of the lyrics of the song "Baltalar Elimizde" sparked controversy. In response, the KSÜ Rectorate stated that they only rented the venue to the organizing company and are not responsible for the content of the concert.
The lead singer of the band Duman, Kaan Tangöze, faced backlash for altering the lyrics of the song "Baltalar Elimizde" during his performance at the Yunus Emre Congress Center of Kahramanmaraş Sütçü İmam University. In response to the criticism, the university administration stated that they were unaware of the concert's content and only rented the venue, labeling the statements targeting them as a "slander campaign."
LYRICS FROM THE CONCERT SPARKED DEBATE
Kaan Tangöze took the stage on Wednesday, November 19, at the Yunus Emre Congress Center of Kahramanmaraş Sütçü İmam University. The lyrics of the song "Baltalar Elimizde," which he performed, became the focus of criticism on various platforms. Following the concert, some circles accused the university administration of allowing the event and failing to oversee its content. As the backlash grew, the university administration issued a written statement.
"ONLY THE VENUE WAS RENTED, WE WERE UNAWARE OF THE CONTENT"
The university administration emphasized in their statement that the concert was not organized by the university and that the venue was rented to an event company for a fee. It was highlighted that ticket sales for the event were also conducted by this company. The statement read, "It is unacceptable to hold us responsible for the content of a concert event for which only the venue was allocated by our university, and in which we had no other involvement." It was also stated that university administrators were not present at the event and that the program was not shared on the university's official announcement channels.
"ATTEMPT TO DISGRACE, SERIOUS ACCUSATIONS"
The statement argued that the texts targeting the university and its administrators were "intentional and unfounded," claiming that the expressions used exceeded the limits of a union statement and turned into an "attempt to discredit" the institution. The administration characterized the accusations directed at the administrators as "slander and manipulation," emphasizing that the responsibility for expressions aimed at targeting public officials and provoking the institution lies with those who made these statements.
"AN INVESTIGATION HAS BEEN INITIATED, LEGAL RIGHTS RESERVED"
The university administration announced that an administrative review and investigation process has been initiated regarding the statements targeting the university and its administrators. The text included, "Our administration has recorded this statement, which aims to target our institution and our administrators, and reserves the right to make any necessary legal evaluations."
EMPHASIS ON "WE WILL NOT COMPROMISE ON NATIONAL AND SPIRITUAL VALUES"
The university administration, in the continuation of the statement, declared that the institution is committed to national and spiritual values, emphasizing that they will not accept words and behaviors that insult any state official, starting with the President. The statement claimed that KSÜ is a "value that grows with its city, students, and employees," asserting that the university will not yield to any "slander campaign" and will not allow "operational language" to take hold.
