Most recently, a notable statement came from Ahmet Davutoğlu, the Chairman of the Gelecek Party. Speaking on Ekol TV, Davutoğlu stated that since 1950, all social transformations have occurred with the approval of the central conservative electorate.

Davutoğlu said, "Menderes, Demirel, Özal, Erbakan, Erdoğan... Major mass transformations have always happened here. There is a blockage here. Because there is an economic crisis. There is no trust in the law. There are deficiencies in the functioning of the state. Young people have no hope left."

Stating that there is a sense of uncertainty after Erdoğan, Davutoğlu said, "Turkey's fate has been tied to one person. There are discussions within the AK Party about who will be the leader... Turkey's problem is not about who will come after Erdoğan. We need much bigger reforms."
