Security forces kill 7, wound 70 in anti government protests this week.

At least seven Guinean demonstrators were killed this week by security forces during ongoing protests against a possible constitutional change to allow President Alpha Conde to run for a third or even a fourth term, according to media reports on Wednesday.

Seven protesters were killed and another 70 wounded in firing by security forces since Monday, news website Devdiscourse reported.

The fatalities included a 14-year-old student named Boubacar Diallo, the report said.

A coalition of Guinean opposition groups said in a statement Wednesday that 10 protesters were killed, 70 wounded and 200 arrested.

The current constitution, adopted only nine years ago, allows the president to run for two five-year terms.

Conde's term will end in December 2020.

Civil society groups, trade unions and opposition parties have joined hands to prevent the 81-year-old leader from tinkering the constitution. -
