Gülbin Tosun, the presenter of NOW TV main news bulletin, criticized Ankara Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Mansur Yavaş with harsh words in her social media post about stray animals. Tagging Yavaş, Tosun said, "When you said 'There are no dogs on the streets, we take care of them,' were you referring to the living beings that you have imprisoned and don't even have water in front of them! What can I say, be thirsty for a glass of water then!"

It was claimed that Tosun was fired after the post. Tosun stated that she was put on compulsory leave in her statement. Tosun said the following: "Thank you very much for your support messages. You are very valuable. Thank you for being there, my animal friends. I have been put on compulsory leave. My termination has not been given yet. Just for your information. There is no stepping back from animal rights."
