In the case regarding the fire at the Grand Kartal Hotel, which claimed the lives of 78 people, the words spoken by the hotel owner Halit Ergül caused a reaction from the victim families during the hearing. The Grand Kartal Hotel fire, which deeply shook Turkey, continues to be one of the country's most important agenda items. In the fire that occurred on January 21 in Kartalkaya, one of Bolu's popular ski resorts, 78 people lost their lives, and 133 others were injured.

DEFENDANTS APPEARED IN COURT FOR THE FIRST TIME

In the case opened after the disaster, a total of 32 defendants, 19 of whom are in custody, appeared before the judge for the first time on Monday. Due to the inadequacy of the Bolu Courthouse, the Bolu Social Sciences High School Sports Hall was prepared days in advance for the hearing, which saw a large turnout.

Participants were admitted to the sports hall, which was surrounded by barriers on all sides, with strict security measures on the 4th day of the trial. After the defendants were brought into the hall, the 4th day of the hearing began. Meanwhile, in the first 3 days of the trial, the defenses of a total of 24 defendants had been taken.
