In Colombia, right-wing candidate Abelardo De La Espriella, who declared victory in the presidential election and is backed by Trump, participated in victory celebrations from inside a special platform protected by bulletproof glass. Images of Espriella greeting his supporters under tight security measures drew attention, while current President Gustavo Petro contested the election results.

Abelardo De La Espriella, who declared victory in Colombia's presidential election based on unofficial results, went out with his supporters to celebrate the win.

The right-wing candidate, openly supported by U.S. President Donald Trump, drew attention during the celebrations for standing inside a special security platform surrounded by bulletproof glass.

STRICT SECURITY MEASURES TAKEN

In images shared on social media, Espriella was seen greeting the crowd from a vehicle or platform with bulletproof glass moving through the streets at night. The celebrations were accompanied by intense security measures, with numerous motorcycle-riding guards and supporters visible in the area.

In Colombia, where the election race was highly competitive, Espriella left his rival Ivan Cepeda behind by a margin of approximately 246,000 votes, according to unofficial results.

PETRO HAD OBJECTED TO THE RESULTS

Current President Gustavo Petro had stated that he would await the completion of the official vote count, alleging irregularities in the election results.

Espriella had previously stated in a statement, "We won against the pressures under the shadow of weapons, attempts to buy votes, corruption, and guerrilla warfare. Colombia was the winner."
