Retired Israeli Major General Yitzhak Brik claimed in a radio program that Turkey is preparing for war against Israel and that the Israeli army is unprepared for multiple threats. Brik stated, "There is no solution," arguing that there has also been a failure against Hamas.
Yitzhak Brik, a former general of Israel, made striking statements during a program he participated in on 103 FM radio. Speaking on the morning program hosted by Arel Segal and Eyal Berkowitz, Brik argued that the Israeli army cannot fight on multiple fronts and is strategically unprepared.
"THEY ARE PREPARING FOR WAR AGAINST US"
Brik stated that Turkey has changed the balance of power in the region, saying, "The Turks have taken the place of the Iranians. Now they are preparing for war against us, they are sending their tanks into Syria. This is an enemy 100 times stronger than Assad. It has been announced that they are purchasing 60 fighter jets and $6 billion worth of equipment," referring to Turkey's agreement with Indonesia for the KAAN fighter jet.
"THE POSSIBILITY OF HEZBOLLAH'S ATTACK..."
Brik noted that Hezbollah is stationed 100 kilometers away from Metula, indicating that armament has increased and the Israeli army is in serious concern. He mentioned that a new division has been established on the Lebanese border, stating, "The possibility of Hezbollah's attack threatens Israel."
IRAN, EGYPT, AND JORDAN ALSO IDENTIFIED AS THREATS
Brik argued that Iran has built thousands of missiles and that it is very difficult to cope with this, asserting that not only Iran but also Egypt and Jordan pose a threat to Israel: "The Egyptians are turning their backs on us, they are conducting exercises. The Jordanians are forming terrorist cells at the border. We also have problems with Israeli Arabs; an explosion could happen soon."
"DON'T YOU SEE THAT WE ARE LOSING AGAINST HAMAS?"
At the end of the program, when the hosts asked Brik, "Is there anything you would like to add?" his response was quite striking: "Don't you realize that we are losing against Hamas? Our soldiers are dying, hostages are not being released because we do not have the capability to defeat them. A small army cannot remain in the territory it occupies. They go out at night and plant explosives, and we are dying. This army cannot cope with their hundreds of kilometers of tunnels."
"THERE IS NO SOLUTION"
Brik reiterated several times throughout his speech that no solution proposals have been presented for the situation Israel is in, emphasizing the lack of a strategic plan. He pointed out that Israel is forced to fight on many fronts at the same time, stressing that this is not sustainable.
