A person who dug a 40-meter deep and 3-meter wide well in his garden in Hatay to search for treasure has been revealed to have spent approximately 2 years excavating the massive well. The individual, who found no materials in the astonishing well, was arrested by the court.
A 3-METER WIDE TUNNEL WAS FOUND
A person named C.K., living in the Çağlalık neighborhood of Payas district, started digging a well in his garden for treasure hunting. Upon noticing the situation, a field study was conducted by the Payas District Gendarmerie Command under the coordination of the Dörtyol Chief Public Prosecutor's Office regarding smuggling crimes related to cultural and natural assets. Searches conducted at the suspect's residence, land, and garden revealed a tunnel approximately 40 meters deep and 3 meters wide, equipped with electrical and ventilation systems, as well as a pit of a certain width and height. At the scene, a load-bearing crane, generator, gas mask and filter, detector, historical artifact search rod, breaker, numerous picks, shovels, ropes, and electrical cables were seized.
HE WAS DETAINED
It was learned that search activities would be carried out together with Gendarmerie officials and AFAD teams in the tunnel and pits, and the interior of the tunnel would be identified. The suspect named C.K. was detained for the crime of "conducting unauthorized excavation" and was arrested by the court he was brought before. It was revealed that the individual had excavated the massive well for treasure hunting through day and night efforts over a period of approximately 2 years, and he was caught without finding any materials.
