While working as a pattern maker in the textile industry in Istanbul, Gül Çiçek Aday returned to her village in Kars and started raising livestock. With government support, she increased her herd fourfold in three years. The 29-year-old woman, who shared her experience, said, "My current goal is to reach 200 heads. Of course, in the future, I want to increase this even more to 500 heads. It's a very nice job; it has been easier for me than I expected."
29-year-old Gül Çiçek Aday, who returned to her family's village in Kars' Subatan village from Istanbul, where she worked as a pattern maker in the textile sector, benefited from the "I Have a 'Herd' Reason to Live in My Village" project implemented in cooperation with the Governorship, Ziraat Bank, and the Provincial Directorate of Agriculture and Forestry, and purchased 40 sheep to contribute to production.
INCREASED HER HERD FOURFOLD IN 3 YEARS
In the past 3 years, Aday has increased her herd, which she has cared for with her family, fourfold and is contributing to the city's meat and milk production with her 160 sheep.
"IT HAS BEEN EASIER FOR ME THAN I EXPECTED"
Farmer Gül Çiçek Aday stated that they returned to their village with her family while she was working as a pattern maker in the textile sector in Istanbul. Expressing that they chose village life because they were tired of city life, Aday said: "My own village, natural life, these also affected me, of course. Seeing the support of our government, I chose to return to my village. With the support of my family, I have been continuing sheep farming for 3 years now. My current goal is to reach 200 heads. Of course, in the future, I want to increase this to 500 heads. It's a very nice job, I mean, it has been easier for me than I expected."
"CREDIT OPPORTUNITY OVER 1 MILLION LIRA FOR THOSE WHO WANT TO FARM"
Provincial Director of Agriculture and Forestry Enver Aydın explained that there are over 1 million small livestock in Kars. Pointing out that the city has vast plateau and pasture areas, Aydın noted: "We have a project called 'I Have a 'Herd' Reason to Live in My Village,' which we signed a protocol with Ziraat Bank under the chairmanship of our Governor Ziya Polat, to support our farmers both in terms of production and to attract new producer candidates who will start farming. Producers who want to start farming and raise small livestock are provided with a credit opportunity of up to 1 million 200 thousand lira, and they can obtain up to 100 small livestock, thus enabling them to start animal husbandry."
"WE HAVE CONNECTED 20 THOUSAND SMALL LIVESTOCK WITH FARMS"
Aydın explained that Gül Çiçek Aday, who received support from the project, decided to settle in her village while working in Istanbul, saying, "We also stepped in during this process and supported her in terms of credit. With the sheep she purchased, she has established a farm where she can sustain her livelihood with her family in the village and continues to contribute to production. Within the scope of this project, we received over 500 applications in our province and have benefited over 200 farmers from support. To date, a credit of 43 million lira has been used, and we have connected approximately 20 thousand small livestock with farms." he said.
