US and Israeli warplanes targeted Azadi Square, one of the most symbolic points in Tehran, the capital of Iran, and its surroundings.
CIVILIANS FLED IN FEAR
The intense explosions in the area heavily populated by civilians caused significant damage to nearby buildings and led to great fear and panic among the public.
In footage from the moment of the incident, moments were captured of people trying to escape from the square where smoke was rising. After the attack, a large number of search and rescue and medical teams were dispatched to the area.
US-ISRAEL ATTACKS ON IRAN
Israel and the US launched a military attack on Iran on February 28, while negotiations were ongoing between the Tehran and Washington administrations.
In response, Iran carried out attacks on targets it identified in several regional countries, including Qatar, the United Arab Emirates (UAE), and Bahrain, where US bases are located, in addition to Israel.
In the US-Israel attacks, many high-ranking officials, including Iranian leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, were killed.
The Iranian Red Crescent announced that 787 people lost their lives in the US-Israel attacks.
