He had stabbed and thrown him by the roadside! The taxi driver's killer sentenced to life imprisonment.

The foreign national Yoosef Bagherian Gharehtapeh, who stabbed and killed 58-year-old taxi driver Yaşar Yanıkyürek in Sarıyer and fled with the taxi after throwing him by the roadside, appeared before a judge for the first time. The defendant, who claimed to not remember anything in his defense, was sentenced to aggravated life imprisonment and 13 years in prison in the first hearing.



Aggravated life imprisonment was demanded for two separate crimes



The trial of the detained defendant Yoosef Bagherian Gharehtapeh, who is of Iranian nationality, began today with the charges of "premeditated murder" and "armed robbery" in the incident that took place in Tarabya neighborhood of Sarıyer, Istanbul on April 17.



"He committed the murder intentionally, I want him to receive the harshest punishment"



When asked about his defense, the defendant said that he watched the footage but did not remember anything. The son of taxi driver Yaşar Yanıkyürek stated in his statement, "A heinous murder has been committed. It is not possible for him to not remember. He committed a planned and deliberate murder. I want him to be punished severely." The prosecutor, in his opinion, requested the punishment of the defendant for the charges brought against him.



He defended himself by saying "I don't remember anything"



The defendant stated in his defense against the opinion that he did not have the intention to kill, that he was sorry, and that he did not remember anything. The defendant stated in his final words that he had nothing to say.



Aggravated life imprisonment in the first hearing



After the defenses, the court announced its decision and sentenced the defendant Yoosef Bagherian Gharehtapeh to aggravated life imprisonment and 13 years in prison for the crimes of "qualified intentional killing" and "armed robbery".



No reduction in the sentence was applied



The court ruled for the continuation of the defendant's detention without applying any reduction in the sentence, as it concluded that the defendant did not show sincere remorse. After the decision, the presiding judge expressed his condolences to the family of Yaşar Yanıkyürek, saying, "It does not bring the dead back. May Allah have mercy on him abundantly."
