Recently, a bet that has caused many families to break apart has now taken a life. In Kocaeli's Gebze district, the suspect arrested in connection with the murder of Murat Yüzak confessed in his statement that they had argued because they could not share the betting winnings, and during this argument, he strangled his friend to death. It was also learned that the suspect drove around with the body in his car for 1.5 days after the murder.
49-year-old Murat Yüzak, who worked in a factory, left his home on February 5 but did not return. His family, unable to reach Yüzak, filed a missing person report and posted his photos as missing notices in busy areas around Gebze.
SUSPECT ARRESTED
In the investigation, the people Murat Yüzak last spoke to were examined. Based on the findings, R.G. and M.A. were taken into custody. Yüzak's body was found hidden in a wooded area. After their procedures at the police station, the suspects were sent to Gebze Courthouse, where M.A. was released after his statement to the prosecutor, while R.G. was arrested by the duty magistrate and sent to prison.
TRAVELED WITH A CORPSE
Meanwhile, R.G.'s statement to the prosecutor was obtained. In his statement, R.G. said that they had been gambling with Murat Yüzak and that Yüzak did not share the money they won with him. R.G. confessed that they argued for this reason and that he strangled Yüzak to death. Additionally, R.G. stated that after the murder, he traveled with Yüzak's body in the vehicle for 1.5 days and then left the body in a wooded area, covering it with bushes.
