After the general elections held on February 12 in Bangladesh, the leader of the Bangladesh Nationalist Party, Tarique Rahman, took an oath in a ceremony held in the capital Dhaka, becoming the new Prime Minister of the country. Rahman assumed the prime ministerial seat after 17 years of exile. He will govern the country for the next 5 years and has been recorded as "the first male prime minister in the last 35 years."

HE TOOK AN OATH IN THE PRESENCE OF THE PRESIDENT
In the general elections held on February 12, the leader of the Bangladesh Nationalist Party, Rahman, officially began his term with an oath ceremony held in the capital Dhaka. Instead of the Presidential Palace, the ceremony took place in the South Plaza of the National Parliament, where Rahman took his oath in the presence of President Mohammed Shahabuddin. Many foreign diplomats, military officials, and political party representatives attended the ceremony.
THE FIRST MALE PRIME MINISTER IN 35 YEARS
60-year-old Rahman, who lived in exile in London for about 17 years, returned to his country two months ago. Coming to power after the BNP won 209 of the 300 seats in parliament, Rahman took over from the interim government led by Muhammad Yunus, which was established after the overthrow of Sheikh Hasina's administration.
At the ceremony held in the South Square of the Parliament, Rahman announced his 50-member cabinet.
Rahman, who will govern the country for the next 5 years, has been recorded as "the first male prime minister in the last 35 years."
