A 67-year-old citizen in the Izmit district of Kocaeli was assaulted in the middle of the street by individuals who approached him in a vehicle. Aladağ, whose mobile phone was also stolen, said, "A minibus stopped next to me. They asked for a lighter, and I gave them the lighter. In the meantime, they got out of the vehicle and started hitting me. I resisted quite a bit, but it was not possible. Then they started hitting me more. I shouted 'Help!' This is what happened to me."
While walking on Turan Güneş Street in the Izmit district of Kocaeli, Ali Aladağ was approached by a vehicle on his way home. The individuals who got out of the vehicle assaulted Aladağ for an unknown reason. After the attackers also stole Aladağ's mobile phone, they fled. Following a report to the 112 Emergency Call Center by bystanders, health and police teams were dispatched to the area. Aladağ, who was taken to the hospital and discharged after treatment, filed a complaint against the attackers.
1 SUSPECT ARRESTED
The police, who initiated an investigation, identified one of the suspects as E.Y. E.Y., who was taken into custody, was arrested after processing at the police station. It was reported that the investigation into the incident is ongoing.
"THEY ASKED FOR A LIGHTER, I GAVE IT. THIS IS WHAT HAPPENED TO ME"
Describing his experience, Ali Aladağ said, "I was passing under the bridge alone on my way home. A minibus stopped next to me. They asked for a lighter, I gave it to them. In the meantime, they got out of the vehicle and started hitting me. I resisted quite a bit, but it was not possible. Then they started hitting me more. I shouted 'Help'. This is what happened to me.
"THERE IS NO GRUDGE, I DO NOT KNOW THE INDIVIDUALS"
Some other friends came later. I asked them to call an ambulance. The ambulance came, and we went to the hospital. They also stole my phone. They thought, 'Surely they will take the license plate.' In the meantime, they took my phone as well. There is no grudge. I do not know the individuals. I saw about 3 people, but there could be 4 as well," he said.
"WHAT HAPPENED TO ME CAN HAPPEN TO ANYONE"
Stating that he does not know the reason for the incident, Aladağ said, "I have been on this street for 40-50 years. What happened to me can happen to anyone. I am also a tradesman, I am retired from my own business. I left the hospital at 10:30 PM. After treatment, we went to the police station, and I gave a statement. There is everything in this neighborhood; cars, music sets, weapons, water leaks, power cuts. Everything is on this street. It should be a place where everyone can live in peace; right now, it’s like Dallas. I have no special requests. I am also with the people. I am one of the people. They need to ensure that we can live in peace," he said.
