In the Yalıköy Neighborhood of Istanbul's Çatalca district, İrfan A. (İ.A.), who locked himself in a house with a long-barreled firearm and opened fire on the surroundings and gendarmerie teams, has been resisting surrender for two days. While security measures in the area have been raised to the highest level, the insolent and provocative posts the suspect made on his social media account have astonished onlookers.
The tense moments that began yesterday morning in Yalıköy Neighborhood, Çatalca district, Istanbul, turned into a full-blown standoff. According to information obtained, İrfan A., carrying a long-barreled firearm, locked himself inside a residence for reasons not yet determined. When the suspect began firing randomly from the house window at the surroundings, neighborhood residents immediately notified authorities.
GENDARMERIE AND SPECIAL OPERATIONS FORCES SURROUND THE AREA
Following the report, numerous gendarmerie and special operations-backed security teams were dispatched to the address. The teams, forming a wide security perimeter in the area, moved to persuade the suspect. However, the enraged attacker responded by opening fire with his long-barreled firearm at the gendarmerie teams attempting to approach the house and take him into custody. The negotiation and waiting operation launched by security forces to persuade the suspect to surrender safely has been ongoing uninterrupted for 2 days.

While a state of alert continues throughout the neighborhood and security units, it has emerged that the attacker has been actively using his social media accounts to make scandalous posts. The suspect, who shared an image of his long-barreled firearm placed beside him along with coffee and a toast, drew backlash with the note: "While waiting for special operations, high-caffeine coffee and a toast go well, even if it's for the last time."
UAV AND DRONE ACTIVITY BROADCAST MOMENT BY MOMENT
It was observed that the attacker continued to relay the operational activity outside in a near-live manner on his social media. In his posts, describing the step-by-step monitoring of security forces in the area, İrfan A. was determined to have used the following statements:
- "There is some movement in the vehicles right now."
- "A drone flying around occasionally, not sure if it's related to this—a UAV. Standard surveillance activities. Calls like 'answer the phone already'."
- "Twitter imposed a posting ban. I can't share. Hedgehog vehicles have arrived, I think. It may not go past tonight, the resolution."
