Ten days after 24-year-old Berkan Karakaya fell into the Asi River in Hatay and went missing, the sad news arrived. The young man's lifeless body was found at the point where the river meets the sea.
On February 2nd, in the Turunçlu neighborhood of the Defne district in Hatay, search efforts were initiated for Berkan Karakaya (24), an employee of the Hatay Water and Sewerage Administration (HATSU), who fell into the Asi River and was swept away by the current. The search efforts yielded results on the 10th day.
HIS BODY WAS FOUND AT THE POINT WHERE THE RIVER MEETS THE SEA
In the operations carried out by AFAD, the Coast Guard, the Underwater Search and Rescue teams of the Hatay Metropolitan Municipality Fire Department, Karakaya's lifeless body was found around 03:00 at the point where the Asi River flows into the sea. The body of Karakaya, who was pulled from the water by the teams, was taken to the morgue of the Hatay Forensic Medicine Institution for autopsy.
An investigation into the incident is ongoing.
