The background of the incident in Adana, where a suspect who called the 112 Emergency Call Center for help shot a police officer who arrived at the scene with a pistol, has been revealed. The investigation determined that the suspect, who wanted to carry out an armed attack for revenge after being thrown out of a nightclub, opened fire when confronted by the police who came to the area following his own report. The arrested suspect claimed that he fired at the police 'by accident.'
Details have emerged of an incident in Adana where a person who called 112 Emergency Call Center claiming to be chased by armed individuals shot and injured a police officer who arrived at the scene. It was learned that the suspect, who was taken into custody and later arrested, encountered the police while going to carry out an armed attack for revenge after being thrown out of a nightclub.
HE CALLED 112 AND SUMMONED THE POLICE TO THE SCENE
The incident occurred on June 25 at around 04:30 on Adnan Menderes Boulevard in Karslılar neighborhood, Çukurova district. According to allegations, the suspect called the 112 Emergency Call Center, claiming to be followed by armed individuals and asked for help.
Upon the report, teams from the Çukurova District Police Department were dispatched to the scene. While conducting an investigation in the area, the suspect arriving on a motorcycle opened fire four times with a pistol at police officer M.A.Ş. The officer was wounded in his right leg and groin in the attack.
The wounded officer was taken to Çukurova State Hospital by ambulance after initial medical intervention. It was learned that the police officer's health condition is good.
CAPTURED WHILE FLEEING
The suspect Can C. (23), who fled after the attack, was caught by Çukurova Patrol Teams after a chase, along with the pistol used in the incident. The suspect, taken into custody, was later handed over to the Homicide Bureau teams.
THE BACKGROUND REVEALED
In the investigation conducted by the Homicide Bureau teams, it was determined that Can C. was thrown out of the nightclub where he was having fun on the night of the incident for making noise. It was found that the suspect then took his gun and went to open fire at the nightclub for revenge. At that moment, encountering the police teams who arrived at the scene upon his own report, he opened fire at police officer M.A.Ş.
After his procedures at the police station, Can C. was referred to the courthouse and arrested by the court. When taken for a health check, the suspect replied "By accident" to journalists' question "Why did you shoot the police?"
