The incident in Mutki district of Bitlis unfolded as follows. After playing with a cat he saw on the street, the 12-year-old child started to experience pain and itching in his eye. The patient, whose complaints increased, was brought to the Emergency Department of Tatvan State Hospital by his family. IT WAS DETERMINED THAT THERE WAS A TICK IN THE EYEAfter the examinations, a foreign object was detected in the child's eye. Upon the results of the examinations, the patient was referred to the ophthalmologist, Dr. Halil İbrahim Ateşoğlu, regarding the foreign object in the eye. In the detailed examination performed by Dr. Ateşoğlu, it was determined that there was a tick in the eye. After the intervention performed at the outpatient clinic, the patient was taken to the operating room to remove the tick stuck to the eyelid. After a successful operation that lasted about half an hour, a live tick was removed from the child's eye. HEALTH CONDITION IS GOODAfter the intervention, it was stated that the patient's health condition was good. The patient was discharged with medication treatment to come for a follow-up visit. Reyhanlı drew attention to tick cases and said, "Our 12-year-old patient living in the rural area of Mutki applied to our hospital's emergency department with complaints of eye pain and itching. After the examinations, a foreign object was detected in the eye and the patient was referred to our ophthalmologist. Our ophthalmologist successfully removed the live tick stuck to the eyelid with a successful operation in the operating room. The patient was discharged with medication treatment to come for a follow-up visit on the same day. We frequently encounter such cases in the summer months. We recommend our citizens living in rural areas and engaged in animal husbandry to be more careful. We urge our citizens with such complaints to take the symptoms seriously and apply to the nearest healthcare facility."
