Meteorology consultant Orhan Şen, who issued a warning regarding the expected snowfall in Istanbul, tagged Istanbul Governor Davut Gül, stating, "Snowfall in Istanbul may create a cover on the ground. Having schools closed in Istanbul on Monday will reduce traffic within the city."

According to information from the meteorology department, heavy rain is expected in the west of the country today, while snow and mixed rain are anticipated in the east. A 'yellow' coded alert has been issued for 48 cities, warning of storms, heavy rain, and snowfall. Heavy precipitation is expected in Thrace.

According to meteorological forecasts, after the lodos storm that has paralyzed the entire country, snowfall will begin in many cities, including Istanbul, in the new week.

ISTANBUL WILL COOL BY 10 DEGREES

The Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality (IBB) Disaster Coordination Center (AKOM) has warned citizens about the strong storm, thunderous rain, and snowfall expected in the city over the weekend. According to a statement from AKOM, the wind, which is expected to increase its effect again this evening, is predicted to turn into a storm starting from Saturday evening. From the night hours, the wind is expected to blow strongly at speeds between 60 to 90 kilometers per hour with short bursts, accompanied by heavy rain and occasional thunderous rain transitions.

After the storm and heavy rain, it is predicted that temperatures will drop suddenly by 8 to 10 degrees to winter values starting from noon on Sunday. It is expected that temperatures will range between -1 to 4 degrees until Wednesday morning, with mixed rain and snow starting from Sunday evening, and heavy snowfall in some areas from the early hours of Monday.

ORHAN ŞEN POINTED OUT SCHOOLS

Orhan Şen, who said, "Monday will be cold and snow will also affect the west, Istanbul will be affected," tagged Istanbul Governor Davut Gül, stating, "Snowfall in Istanbul can create a cover on the ground. Having schools closed in Istanbul on Monday will reduce city traffic. If you have no business, do not go outside. If it snows in Yozgat, for example, it won't be a problem, but it will be in Istanbul," he expressed.

COLD WEATHER IS COMING FROM THE BALKANS

Weather Forum warned, saying, "Cold weather is coming from the Balkans," stating, "On Saturday, our weather will be lodos. Temperatures will rise to 15-16 degrees. Intermittent heavy rain showers will hit. In the evening and at night, the lodos will whistle. Do not wander under trees, roofs, or poles."

HOW WILL THE WEATHER BE TODAY?

According to forecasts made by the General Directorate of Meteorology, it is expected that the western part of Marmara and Aegean, the Eastern Mediterranean, and the eastern part of Central Anatolia, the Central and Eastern Black Sea, the Eastern and Southeastern Anatolia Regions, as well as the coasts of Bartın, Karabük, and Kastamonu, the western districts of Antalya, and the surroundings of Alanya will experience rainy weather. Coastal areas, the south of Marmara and Aegean, and the southeast of Anatolia are expected to have rain and showers, while mixed rain and snow are expected in the east of the country, with occasional heavy precipitation in the northern and western parts of Thrace, the Aegean and Eastern Black Sea coasts, as well as in the areas of Hakkari and Ordu.

Air temperatures will be around seasonal norms. The wind will blow lightly and moderately from southern directions across the country, while it will be strong in the northern and western parts of the country, with occasional storms (40-80 km/h) in the Marmara, Aegean, Western Mediterranean, northern and western parts of Central Anatolia, and the inner parts of the Black Sea.
